Last Saturday, Helen Huson, who is playing Miss Prism in our current production of The Importance of Being Earnest, was unfortunately forced to withdraw from the show. With less than 24 hours to go before our London debut at the Bridewell Theatre the production was in serious jeopardy.
Our saviour was Anna MacLeod, an OVO regular last seen as Maria in our production of Twelfth Night last summer. With only a couple of hours’ rehearsal, and not much more time to learn the lines, Anna took to the stage on Sunday night as a fully realised Miss Prism and gave a fantastic performance, receiving an ovation from the audience and the rest of the cast alike.
We’re hoping any remaining drama associated with this production will be firmly rooted on stage rather than off it!

Oscar Wilde’s ‘trivial comedy for serious people’ is one of theatre’s great masterpieces - a witty and light-hearted romp through the parlours and parlance of English society filled with sparking dialogue, dazzling humour and that infamous handbag.
Building on its strong track record of making the classics more accessible, OVO casts the play forward to the early Edwardian era mixing music, mirth and mayhem to entertain and delight audiences of all ages.
